Webb7 aug. 2024 · Perfusion Index or PI is the ratio of the pulsatile blood flow to the non-pulsatile static blood flow in a patient’s peripheral tissue, such as fingertip, toe, or ear lobe. Perfusion index is an indication of the pulse strength at the sensor site. The PI’s values range from 0.02% for a very weak pulse to 20% for an extremely strong pulse.
WebbPhilips WebbThe perfusion index measures how well blood circulates in a specific part of your body. The perfusion index does that using a comparison of the amount of oxygen-carrying blood in the area vs. the volume of blood not carrying oxygen. The same capability that lets a pulse oximeter calculate blood oxygen also helps with the perfusion index.
